What I've Been Up To
It’s been a while.
First off, in my absence, I created a custom Markdown editor in HTML and Tailwind CSS. It’s slightly limited in scope, but I think it’s one of my best projects to date. I even added options like exporting your Markdown code to an actually nice looking HTML file, with the same styling I use in the preview of the actual editor. I got inspired for the project when I saw itzCozi’s MarkD, which is far better than any markdown editor I could ever hope to make. It is genuinely incredible, so if you’re interested, I suggest you check it out. If you want to try my little editor too, it’s available at markdown.archiiv.cc. It supports six sizes of titles, normal, bold, italic and highlighted text, as well as links and images.
Another thing I’ve been brewing in my secret laboratory is a little music player. This is also made in HTML and Tailwind CSS, and features some of my favorite music ever (from the incredible artists Bobby Darin and Wayne Newton). Admittedly this project stemmed from laziness, I hated having to log into Spotify every time I wanted to listen to music on the school iPads or computers. It’s just another thing to sign out of, yknow? So, I created that little website, weirdly enough doing way more work than it takes to just click the “sign out” button. It supports autoplay, it has buttons to skip ten seconds in either direction, it has audio scrubbing, a volume slider, and a folder-based song sorting system.
Admittedly these are very basic, the bare minimum for modern music players. However, I am still proud of the work I’ve put into this project, and I’m very proud of the end result. You can find my music player at music.archiiv.cc.
I have one final thing to show you. It’s a little bit of a weirder project, completely separate from everything else, but I think it’s cool. So, for a while now, I’ve been more invested in history than any other subject. Specifically, the Cold War and the Holocaust have been incredibly interesting to me. So, I decided to start a website dedicated to just those things, a private Wikipedia of sorts, to host interesting and rare files and media related to my favorite subjects of history, in the hopes that maybe someone else would think it’s cool too. It can be found, most unsurprisingly, at history.archiiv.cc.
The only pages fully completed are the ones having to do with the Cold War. Due to storage restraints, I had to host every file on the site with Amazon’s AWS, so if files are slower to load, I apologize.
Anyways, I’ve been ARCHIIV, and I hope you got something out of this post. Thanks for visiting.
